Machine History

I found this machine by accident. The guy who sold me the Battlezone game had the Defender machine in the corner of his garage. I noticed it and asked him if he was interested in selling it. With his unique southern drawl he said, “I got a lot of money into that one. I’m not sure you would want to pay that much.” When I asked him how much he replied, “Two-fifty.” A nice Defender for $250?? I asked him if he would take a check and the rest is history. I haven’t done much of anything to this machine and will probably restore it someday when I’m bored.

My Thoughts on the Machine

Defender is an incredibly difficult game. I’ve owned the game for nearly twelve years and it still kicks my ass. The graphics are very simple but also very effective. The game is a pure adrenaline rush only surpassed by Robotron. Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar were indeed video game visionaries and I would really like to shake their hands some day.
